The Helen O'Grady Drama Academy runs its drama school at the Methodist Church Hall on Brenda Road in Plumstead on Wednesday afternoons in three age-groups: Lower Primary, Upper Primary and Youth Theatre. Students attend from the surrounding areas including Wynberg, Constantia, Tokai, Bergvliet and Southfield. The programme follows that Academy's international drama course to develop confidence, self-esteem, communication and performance skills. Teachers are vibrant, positive and all fully trained in the Helen O'Grady method. Many students join the Academy's casting agency to gain further exposure in film, theatre and radio. Following the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy's Principle of making drama affordable and accessible for all, the Helen O'Grady's studio in Bonteheuwel has been running successfully for many years. Drama classes are held at the Bonteheuwel Library on Tuesday afternoons. Classes are taught in different age groups at different times: 5-8 years, 9-12 years and 13-18 years. The curriculum is extensive and international and really brings children on in their speech and communication skills very quickly but also we deal with developing young actors through our comprehensive theatre arts programme.
