Toba Coffee Table Set All the best things in life come in two. We present you our Toba nesting coffee table set. A stunning coffee table set on a steel base. One top has a black finish and the other top an oak finish. We love simple geometry. This coffee table set is a great match with our Toba side table. Available in a walnut finish or a clear oak finish. Big Table Diameter: 800 mm Height: 370 mm Thickness of top: 20 mm Small Table Diameter: 650 mm Height: 260 mm Thickness of top: 20 mm Material MDF and Supawood, Engineered Wood / Veneer MDF and Supawood When it comes to engineered wood, MDF board -also known locally as SupaWood, is often considered a level above plywood. It is denser, stronger and more durable. For these reasons, it has almost as many applications as solid wood. MDF is a composite product used in many home and professional projects, such as furniture, cabinetry, flooring and even speaker boxes due to its smooth finish, machinability, strength and consistency. All these great characteristics allow us the flexibility to build great looking products at an affordable price point without having to worry about durability. Care construction Sun damage MDF is sensitive to light. We'd recommend that you avoid leaving anything on the surfaces for the first 6-8 weeks, if they're exposed to sunlight. This should help you avoid any marks or rings appearing if the furniture lightens in the sun. Cleaning A damp (never soaking wet) cloth will do it. Dry the surfaces thoroughly afterwards. MDF can be damaged by liquids, so if you spill anything on it, be sure to wipe it dry immediately. If you need to remove any stains, go gently – use mild soap and warm water. Engineered Wood / Veneer Our designers and makers at Furniturespot love to work with engineered wood, also known as veneer. We only use engineered oak for our furniture items because we love the texture of that wood type in combination with the different available finishes. Engineered oak is a solid timber top (0.3 mm of solid oak) in conjunction with a multi-layer MDF base. Thanks to our clever construction, our engineered wood tops do not expand and contract to the same extent as solid wood tops. But our engineered top’s really special feature is the fact that it’s topped off with solid oak, making the end result look just like solid wood but for a much better price! We receive weekly questions why we are using engineered oak and not solid oak throughout. To start with, the price is 400% cheaper than a solid oak top. It is better resistant to the South African climate with no risk of cupping, bowing, cracking of the top and it is easy in maintenance. Do we need to say more? We made a Q&A around engineered oak. A coffee table with storage? You got it. The Nala coffee table comes in a versatile mono colour finish and has a rectangular shape. Rectangular means it fits in any living room. The extra shelf has plenty of space for you to store books, remotes, and accessories. Bonus alert: The Nala coffee able comes with a matching TV cabinet and pedestal too. Material Melamine Dimensions Width: 600 mm Height: 450 mm Length: 1200 mm Melamine Melamine has become extremely popularity in South Africa and we perfectly understand that. This man-made material has most often the look (and even sometimes the feel) of wood but has been made in a factory. It is durable, easy to maintain and the price is cheaper than (solid) wood. Last but not least, most melamine boards are manufactured in South Africa. Local manufacturing is great for the environment and the South African economy. Melamine is being used for kitchen cupboards but also to build furniture. At Furniturespot we use melamine boards mainly in our floating TV cabinets (link). We have floating TV cabinets in a Sahara wood look finish (link) or in an urban trendy look (link) Melanine is here to stay. Care construction Sun damage Melamine is not very sensitive to sunlight however we do not recommend putting your furniture items in direct sun light. Cleaning A damp (never soaking wet) cloth will do it. Dry the surfaces thoroughly afterwards. Melamine is not very sensitive to liquids, but if you spill anything on it, be sure to wipe it dry immediately. If you need to remove any stains, go gently – use mild soap and warm water.
