This man-made material has most often the look (and even sometimes the feel) of wood but has been made in a factory. It is durable, easy to maintain and the price is cheaper than (solid) wood. Melamine is being used for kitchen cupboards but also to build furniture. At Furniturespot we use melamine boards mainly in our floating TV cabinets (link). Care construction Sun damage Melamine is not very sensitive to sunlight however we do not recommend putting your furniture items in direct sun light. Cleaning A damp (never soaking wet) cloth will do it. Dry the surfaces thoroughly afterwards. Melamine is not very sensitive to liquids, but if you spill anything on it, be sure to wipe it dry immediately. If you need to remove any stains, go gently – use mild soap and warm water.
