This item is sold brand new. It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 7 - 11 working days With WINDS OF CHANGE Eric Burdon began to reach maturity as a song stylist. A concept album, revolving around the themes of changing morals and changing identities, WINDS OF CHANGE's main thrust is the role of contemporary music therein. Burdon explores the history of rock & roll in the title track and pays homage to its stars with a cover of "Paint it, Black" and "Yes I Am Experienced," a knowing nod to Jimi Hendrix. The highlights here, however, are unmistakably "Poem By the Sea," a musing on the limitations of human existence, and "San Franciscan Nights," a loving letter of introduction to that city. Though tracks such as "The Black Plague" and "Hotel Hell" concern sinister matters, WINDS OF CHANGE is mainly Burdon's celebration of the diversity and complexity of late '60s life. Musically, the album is a successful incorporation of instruments as varying as guitar, sitar, and vibes, and an integration of styles as varying as blues rock, psychedelia, medieval dirge, and Beat poetry. Features Summary With WINDS OF CHANGE Eric Burdon began to reach maturity as a song stylist. A concept album, revolving around the themes of changing morals and changing identities... This item is sold brand new. It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 11 - 14 working days Fans of iconic rock band The Doors are in for something special. The groups final album- 1971s L.A. Woman, with the signature hits L.A. Woman, Love Her Madly and Riders On The Storm- is being celebrated with a special two-CD release from Rhino. The L.A. Woman 40th anniversary edition features a never-before-heard song, She Smells So Nice, which captures the band- organist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger, drummer John Densmore and late singer Jim Morrison- joyfully barreling through a full-throttle original before segueing into the blues standard Rock Me. As the song closes, Morrison can be heard chanting, Mr. Mojo Risin"- an anagram of his name that was made famous during the bridge of L.A. Woman. In addition to She Smells So Nice, the second disc of the L.A. Woman reissue includes eight never-before-heard versions of songs from the album. Alternate takes of L.A. Woman, Love Her Madly and Riders On The Storm offer a fresh view on this landmark album, which was the groups sixth straight top 10 title. The studio chatter between the songs is a revelation, transporting listeners to The Doors' Workshop: the West Hollywood rehearsal space where they recorded the album. One segment in particular captures a fascinating moment of inspiration when Morrison suggests they add the now-iconic thunderstorm sound effects to the beginning of Riders On The Storm.
