General duties include but not limited to: General mechanical repairs Servicing of light motor vehicles, light delivery vehicles and 4x4’s Inspecting vehicle faults and defects and reporting on job cards Following instructions from manager Executing all work in a safe manner Adhering to all safety regulations Using hydraulic and power tools with care and safety Test driving vehicles when requested Operating a hoist Assuming responsibility for all tools and equipment, both own toolbox and the workshops tools Hanging tools up after use Cleaning the workshops before leaving Key duties in Workshop: Manage and assist assistant mechanics Ensure effective communication with line manager Ensure effective productivity of own jobs Ensure correct parts are requested to ensure timeous arrival Ensure that a job card is completed before the vehicle is brought into the workshop Ensure that compliance with “mechanics check list and duties” Ensure that old parts are put into vehicle boot Ensure compliance with written control system for parts to be returned to suppliers KEY REQUIREMENTS: Matric Certificate Qualified Mechanic (Trade / Certificates to be supplied with application) 3 - 5 years' experience as a vehicle mechanic Valid SETA papers Valid Driver License SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES: Strong diagnostic ability Knowledge of systems and ability to accurately determine which tools to utilise Sound understanding of safety precautions Proven abiliy to detect problems and perform troubleshooting procedures Demonstrated ability to determine causes of errors and good resolution judgement Ability to handle precision machines and material handling equipment Ability to communicate at levels within the company Salary: Gross monthly offering of R14 000.00 negotiable subject to candidate experience.
