Wortelfontein Guest Farm is nestled in the bend and foothills of a horseshoe mountain range on a 4890 hectare Karoo farm between Hanover and Richmond in the Northern Cape. Riverstill Guest Farm is a nestled in a deep and secluded valley, about 6 km from the hamlet of Groot Marico. There are four guest cottages on the farm, each with privacy in mind. The cottages date back to the first half of the last century and give one a good idea of how folks used to live in those days. The biggest cottage can accommodate seven people and the smallest cottage is equipped for two people. All cottages have fireplaces for the winter months, and verandas. Riverstill is a self-catering establishment with a central lapa for the use of larger groups. The Marico River runs through the farm and is definitely the biggest drawcard with canoes on the water and a nifty swing. Bo-Kloof offers a cottage, a guest house and seven beautiful spots for camping. Kolgans Cottage is a beautifully situated wooden cottage, sleeping a maximum of four people. The guest house offers beds for up to 6 people. One bedroom has a double and two single beds, the second room has two single beds and also serves as kitchen. Linen and towels are provided. There is one bathroom with a bath and shower. The kitchen is equipped with a two-plate stove and oven, a microwave, a fridge-freezer and cutlery and crockery. Dinner and breakfast is available for those who prefer not to self-cater. The campsite is about 1.5 km from the guest house. The shared ablution block consists of four flush toilets and two hot water showers. Electricity is available in the ablution block, but not at the stands. Guests should bring their own extension cords. Seven stands are available, with three of the stands big enough to cater for groups with two to four vehicles and tents. We try not to have more than 40 people in the campsite at one time. Depending on the amount of rainfall, a pond is nearby for swimming. Activities in and around Bo-Kloof include horse riding, hiking or mountain biking and birdwatching. Enjoy the 8 km 4x4 route that will take you to the top of the southern mountain range. Rock climbing enthusiasts can get their permits from Bo-Kloof reception and enjoy Waterkloof. This hike is easily accessible and can take one and a half hours to complete, although you would want to spend your day there.
