ABOUT LILLIPUT LANE Lilliput Lane was founded in 1982 by David Tate MBE. His ambition was to create the most realistic and architecturally accurate miniatures the world had seen. The cottages, based on real buildings, were hand-made in Britain by skilled craftspeople, famous for attention to detail and authenticity. They were sold in more than 50 countries worldwide and collected by many thousands of enthusiasts. Most were produced in limited quantities and retired after a few years; some were only available to members of the Lilliput Lane Collectors’ Club. All production ceased in 2016. I am selling my collection of Lilliput Lane cottages. All are in excellent condition without any chips or damage. A small piece of cape town history Small (17x10x2cm) tray from the Civil Servants Club (Cape Town, founded in 1858) by Gladwin, Sheffield (Embassy plating). No silver marks apart from "Embassy" which is a plate mark on its own. The Embassy works factory Gladwin produced Embassy brand between 1926 and 1936. Since 1896 the Civil Servants Club moved from its premises in Church square to share the new premises with the City club of Cape Town in Queen Victoria str. It is not entirely clear how HM Civil Servants used this object, but they certainly poked it with something shar around the crest a couple of times. The marks are clearly seen under small magnification.
