An amusing, vibrant, informative theatre production based on mathematics concepts for both school learners and the general public. The 60-minute show brings maths to life through theatre, humor, music, dance, with the hope of inspiring learners and the general public to consider the importance of maths in their everyday lives. It’s in our music, our technology, our art, our homes, and even in our nature. ‘PASCAL’ is part of an educational outreach program of PHEPHINKA TEHATRE, a theatre company that creates educational and issue-based theatre. ‘PASCAL’ reveals how maths is everywhere in our world. This Mathematics Theatre project is integrally linked to the Department of Education’s Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) specific aims and skills. Links to CAPS on this project will also give the learners the opportunity to develop: a spirit of curiosity and a love of Mathematics; an appreciation for the beauty and elegance of Mathematics; a critical awareness of how mathematical relationships are used in social, environmental, cultural and economic relations; the correct use of the language of mathematics; number vocabulary, number concept and calculation and application skills, listening, communication and problem solving skills. Join us at The STABLE THEATRE on the 5th July 2014 at 13h00 as we raise awareness about the importance of maths and celebrate the power of Mathematics.
