About the product 228 x 152 mm; laminated pictorial wrappers; pp. xvii + (i) + 179, incl. index. Fine condition."The representation of pain and suffering in narrative form is an ongoing ethical issue in contemporary South African literature. Can violence be represented without sensationalistic effects, or, alternatively, without effects that tend to be conservative because they place the reader in a position of superiority over the victim or the perpetrator? Jolly looks at three primary South African authors - André Brink, Breyten Breytenbach, and J. M. Coetzee - to consider violence in the context of apartheid and colonialism and their inherent patriarchies. Jolly also discusses the violence attendant upon the act of narration in the broader context of critiques of Kafka, Freud, Hegel, the postcolonial critics Jan Mohamed and Bhabha, and feminists such as Susan Suleiman." Colonization, Violence, and Narration in White South African Writing: André Brink, Breyten Breytenbach, and J. M. Coetzee (Rosemary Jane Jolly)

I devised this course, so as to; provide voice and communication training for male-to-female (MtF) clients and for female-to-male (FtM) clients. In general, men and women communicate differently. For example, most men tend to speak with lower pitched voices, while women use higher pitched voices. Women often use more gestures when they speak. Men may use shorter sentences that get more to the point. Individuals who are transgender/transsexual often elect to have voice and communication therapy to help them use their voice in a safe way and communicate more like the opposite gender of that in which they were born. Benefits: • A chance to practice vocal skills in a conversational context. • Increased confidence and self-advocacy in a safe, inviting environment. • The opportunity to share information about the transgender community. • An occasion to interact with other women around shared experiences. • An important interaction between skill-building and relationship-building in the therapeutic process. • Establishing emotional expression and intensity levels when communicating. The text examines the four main management systems in the East Asian region: Japanese, mainland Chinese, Overseas Chinese and Korean, and compares and contrasts the management styles within Asia and with the western world. Through a comparative analysis of organizational structures, competitive strategies and cultural influences, the workings of each system are made clear. Practical guidelines make this book a vital guide for international executives and students alike. The new edition has been updated and covers the Tiger economies before and since the crash. It also looks at the rise of Islam as a force in Asian business and examines China's new role as a quasi-capitalist economic system within a communist political system. This is the core text for all students of Asian business and for all academics with a lively interest in international business. Features Summary Second edition.
