I celebrated my life spent on earth few days ago and upon reflection I realise just how many of us adults carry wounded children within us. Our responsibilities and everything else that we do to keep busy has covered up our childhood trauma and as a result we are blind to our childhood trauma and because we cannot touch it, we simply cannot see it. The levels of childhood trauma are different from person to person and it is the subtle trauma in the forms of struggling with fitting in with our peer groups, parental neglect or even abandonment were we tend to miss it! We are more open to recognising and calling out trauma once it's reached severe levels such as (obvious) abuse. As adults, we cannot take away the fact that we were once children at one time of our lives and just because we have grown older it doesn’t mean the children within us vanish. It is in adulthood were we should awaken our inner child from the unconscious parts of us. ✅We should (seek to) be proactive in fostering better and healthier relationships with ourselves and our 'past' so as to set free that which has been suppressed and respond to situations or challenges from a place of LOVE especially were our own children are concerned. -My birthday wish is to create safe environments for partnering, trust and connectedness which is what I have found to be the missing link with most parents who wish to stop power struggles and parent differently from how they were raised. - I have reserved your share of the cup cake --Follow on Instagram / Facebook @ Conscious_Thoko: - For safe environments for ourselves as parents and for our children to thrive! This item is sold brand new. It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 7 - 10 working days The South African curriculum has experienced many changes since 1994. There was outcomes-based education (also known as Curriculum 2005), then the Revised National Curriculum Statements, followed by the National Curriculum Statements (NCS). In January 2012, Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statements (CAPS) were introduced to replace the NCS. All these changes have been confusing to the average teacher, with the assessment of the young learner being particularly challenging. Assessment in the Foundation Phase guides teachers and student teachers towards understanding assessment as a means for ensuring that learners have attained the necessary outcomes, and doing it effectively for optimal teaching and learning. Assessment in the Foundation Phase sets out recommended techniques and tools to assess learners' knowledge, skills, attitudes and values, and applies these to all subjects prescribed by CAPS. Its goal is to inspire teachers to prepare learners to meet the challenges of future learning through quality assessment and in so doing, support learners in gaining the capacity for lifelong learning. A chapter on e-assessment introduces a useful perspective on this burgeoning field. Assessment in the Foundation Phase is aimed at teachers and student teachers. Reda Davin was a senior lecturer and programme manager in BEd (ECD), PGCE (ECD) and Foundation Phase progammes for 31 years. She holds a DEd degree and MDiac in play therapy and is the Head of Department: Foundation Phase Teacher Training at AROS in Pretoria. She is the editor and co-author of four books on early childhood teaching. Mariana Naude is a lecturer in mathematics for undergraduate student teachers (Foundation Phase) at Aros in Pretoria She is the co-editor of various text books published by Van Schaik Publishers, including Teaching Foundation Phase mathematics: a guide for South African students and teachers and Teaching life skills in the Foundation Phase. This item is sold brand new. It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 4 - 8 working days Advocate Thuli Madonsela has achieved in her seven years as Public Protector what few accomplish in a lifetime; her legacy and contribution cannot be over-stated. In her final days in office she compiled the explosive State Capture report and, before that, the report on President Jacob Zuma's Nkandla residence. Praised and vilified in equal measures, Madonsela has frequently found herself at centre stage in the increasingly fractious South African political scene. Yet, despite the intense media scrutiny, Madonsela remains something of an enigma. Who is this soft-spoken woman who stood up to state corruption? Where did she develop her views and resolve? This book attempts to answer these questions, and others, by exploring many aspects of Madonsela's life: her childhood years and family, her involvement in student politics, her contribution to the constitution, her life in law. Madonsela once described her role as Public Protector as being akin to that of the Venda traditional spiritual female leader, the Makhadzi, who whispers truth to the ruler. When the sounds of the exchanges between the ruler and the Makhadzi grow loud, Madonsela said, that is when the whispering has failed. No Longer Whispering to Power is about Thuli Madonsela's tenure as Public Protector, during which the whisper grew into a cry. It is the story of the South African people's attempt to hold power to account through the Office of the Public Protector. More significantly, this important book stands as a record of the crucial work Madonsela has done, always acting without fear or favour.
