Fiddlers Creek campsite is the base camp for Bushwhacked Outdoor Adventures. The campsite is located in Vioolsdrift, on the banks of the Orange River in Namaqualand. Nestled on the banks of the mighty Orange River, Fiddlers Creek campsite is an oasis ideally situated for travellers from both South Africa and Namibia, and is a base for Orange River rafting trips and 4x4 excursions into the Richtersveld. With 200 metres of waterfront on the river and fourteen grassed campsites, Fiddlers Creek is in essence a bush camp equipped with modern facilities. Each site features an undercover kitchen, basins with running water, counter tops, lights and power points, and a built-in barbecue area. Some of the larger sites also have large tables and benches as a permanent fixture under the roofed area. We all appreciate privacy when we camp, so with that in mind, almost all the sites have been enclosed with a reed fence. Breakfasts, lunch and dinner are available if booked in advance, with a minimum group size in mind. Our speciality is our spit braai, where we will endeavour to find your meat of choice. This campsite is situated under indigenous trees on a farm just 4 km inland from the beautiful coastal village of Kenton-on-Sea in the Eastern Cape. Kenton has some of the loveliest beaches in South Africa and lies between two tidal rivers.The Sunshine Coast is a magical place for family holidays, offering swimming, fishing, boat cruises, canoeing, horse riding, hiking, kite surfing, bird watching and long lazy days on the beaches. Stanley’s is only a 10 minute drive from several malaria free Game Reserves and less than an hour’s drive from the Addo Elephant Park. The Royal Port Alfred Golf Club is 15 minute drive from the farm, or there are several art galleries and studios in the vicinity. The Campsite has a communal braai area and outside sinks for dishwashing. There are clean ablution facilities with hot water showers and toilets and the site is safe and peaceful. Although tent sites do not have electricity you are welcome to bring an extension cord and plug in to one of the electrical outlets in order to dry hair or charge a phone or battery. There is a popular restaurant on the site and swings, slide, a trampoline and a play house for younger children. We have a number of sleeping huts which can be hired if you prefer not to pitch a tent. Each hut has an electric light, fan and plug point. Bo-Kloof offers a cottage, a guest house and seven beautiful spots for camping. Kolgans Cottage is a beautifully situated wooden cottage, sleeping a maximum of four people. The guest house offers beds for up to 6 people. One bedroom has a double and two single beds, the second room has two single beds and also serves as kitchen. Linen and towels are provided. There is one bathroom with a bath and shower. The kitchen is equipped with a two-plate stove and oven, a microwave, a fridge-freezer and cutlery and crockery. Dinner and breakfast is available for those who prefer not to self-cater. The campsite is about 1.5 km from the guest house. The shared ablution block consists of four flush toilets and two hot water showers. Electricity is available in the ablution block, but not at the stands. Guests should bring their own extension cords. Seven stands are available, with three of the stands big enough to cater for groups with two to four vehicles and tents. We try not to have more than 40 people in the campsite at one time. Depending on the amount of rainfall, a pond is nearby for swimming. Activities in and around Bo-Kloof include horse riding, hiking or mountain biking and birdwatching. Enjoy the 8 km 4x4 route that will take you to the top of the southern mountain range. Rock climbing enthusiasts can get their permits from Bo-Kloof reception and enjoy Waterkloof. This hike is easily accessible and can take one and a half hours to complete, although you would want to spend your day there.
