Trees Too Guest Lodge is a family-run guest lodge with restaurant (not self catering) just 8 km from the Crocodile Bridge Gate of the Kruger Park. We are also close to the Mozambique and Swaziland borders for day trips. We have eight en-suite rooms of varying sizes, for one to four guests sharing. The units are mainly set beneath cool thatch with air-conditioning, minibars, tea and coffee-making facilities and TVs. We have a small licensed bar and restaurant serving high-quality fresh food from a varied menu (pre book a table!), so we do not have self-catering facilities. Relax by the sparkling swimming pool in our tropical gardens. Play badminton on our own court or let us arrange your safari drives and bush walks with qualified rangers. We can also arrange elephant back safaris, microlight flights, day trips to Maputo or beach trips, fishing, golf, horse riding and quad biking. We do require 24-hour notice for most activities. Alternatively, drive yourself to many of these locations and we can recommend routes and other places of interest. Komatipoort is a small and quiet town that is a long way from major shopping malls, discos or casinos. It is famously hot and humid here during the summer months from November to February and we have a great winter climate. Use our Wi-Fi zone to stay in touch. We also have secure car parking for reasonably sized cars and a couple of small trailers (pre book trailer space). NB No secure parking for caravans/larger boats. It is within these diverse habitats that over 500 bird species are to be found. The open thornveld habitat of the Polokwane plateau supports a great variety of both bushveld and Kalahari-type birds. The afro-montane forests of Woodbush and Magoebaskloof offer amongst the best forest birding in the country with specials like brown scrub-robin, black-fronted bush shrike, barratt’s warbler, yellow-streaked greenbul and orange ground thrush. While the eastern lower slopes and valleys of Magoebaskloof provide reliable sites for the elusive bat hawk and green twinspot. Stanford Farm boasts a bird list of over 67 birds – you will find these birds in three areas. Firstly, in the ferns and low bushes that are found on the slopes that border Stanford Lake. Secondly, in the reeds and water and thirdly, in the indigenous forest which is probably the most interesting of all the areas.
