Nelson Mandela Hand Print Limited edition; numbered and signed of his “Impressions of Africa Series” – “Left Hand Black” (154/500). A print from the edition is currently for sale at the Belgravia Gallery – the gallery that was honoured to be associated with Mandela’s initiative – for £9,000.00. https://belgraviagallery.com/artist/nelson-mandela/mpressions-of-africa-black-white/ The print is unframed and currently resides in Europe with a certificate of authenticity established by the eminent South African signature expert, Cecil Greenfield. Printed on Velin BFK Rives paper. The printing was done under the supervision of Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town by Professor Stephen Inggs and Tamarind Institute Master Printer Ernestine White. Some background to the print: Throughout history few have left so indelible an imprint on the international stage as Nelson Mandela. His courage, his compassion and his humanity are among the qualities that have led to this Nobel laureate being recognized as one of the world's greatest statesman. Never did a single individual more powerfully symbolize the hopes of a nation. South Africa became free in the way that it did because his hand reached out to all and thus his name became a beacon of hope to oppressed peoples throughout the world. With this limited edition, Nelson Mandela aimed to raise awareness of the devastating effects of HIV afflicting millions throughout the World – mostly Africa – amongst which a large number of children. Nelson Mandela’s left hand print is surrounded by imprints of the hands of children affected by HIV. The numbers of those already afflicted by this terrible disease are truly appalling and the forecasts are absolutely chilling. Nelson Mandela, once again reached out to answer the new cry from those suffering in his beloved country. Each print sold contributes to the Nelson Mandela’s Children Fund. As mentioned above the print is currently unframed and resides in Europe and can be shipped to SA. Open to negotiate a price closest to the asking value.
