Mia Mélange has designed the products of the Mbizi collection to be more durable than their cotton range, allowing them to be suitable for use indoors and outdoors on a patio. The products are made from South African sourced multifilament polypropylene and the rope is carefully sewn together in a coiling technique. The Mbizi collection is inspired by Mia Mélange's love of Africa. Mbizi is the Shona word for Zebra. The forms and colours of Mbizi designs are inspired by these animals, social in nature. The materials and colours are further inspired by modern manmade technologies, such as concrete structures and polypropylene. Carefully sewn together in a coiling technique Made from South African sourced multifilament polypropylene All products are handcrafted and variances may occur — no two products will be exactly the same These lidded baskets are the perfect way to keep your bathroom or bedroom tidy Use them for laundry, or for storing blankets, towels, or kids' toys Mia Mélange aims to create high-quality handcrafted products using the best local materials. Each product is carefully designed and produced with attention to detail. Believing in quality over quantity, handwork is preferred over machine whenever possible. The designs are inspired by a love for nature, texture, natural materials and ancient crafting techniques combined to create modern and functional design. Mia Mélange believes in empowering women and creating opportunities. At the studio in Stellenbosch, a small team of highly valued crafters are carefully trained and given a life skill. Toba Coffee Table Set All the best things in life come in two. We present you our Toba nesting coffee table set. A stunning coffee table set on a steel base. One top has a black finish and the other top an oak finish. We love simple geometry. This coffee table set is a great match with our Toba side table. Available in a walnut finish or a clear oak finish. Big Table Diameter: 800 mm Height: 370 mm Thickness of top: 20 mm Small Table Diameter: 650 mm Height: 260 mm Thickness of top: 20 mm Material MDF and Supawood, Engineered Wood / Veneer MDF and Supawood When it comes to engineered wood, MDF board -also known locally as SupaWood, is often considered a level above plywood. It is denser, stronger and more durable. For these reasons, it has almost as many applications as solid wood. MDF is a composite product used in many home and professional projects, such as furniture, cabinetry, flooring and even speaker boxes due to its smooth finish, machinability, strength and consistency. All these great characteristics allow us the flexibility to build great looking products at an affordable price point without having to worry about durability. Care construction Sun damage MDF is sensitive to light. We'd recommend that you avoid leaving anything on the surfaces for the first 6-8 weeks, if they're exposed to sunlight. This should help you avoid any marks or rings appearing if the furniture lightens in the sun. Cleaning A damp (never soaking wet) cloth will do it. Dry the surfaces thoroughly afterwards. MDF can be damaged by liquids, so if you spill anything on it, be sure to wipe it dry immediately. If you need to remove any stains, go gently – use mild soap and warm water. Engineered Wood / Veneer Our designers and makers at Furniturespot love to work with engineered wood, also known as veneer. We only use engineered oak for our furniture items because we love the texture of that wood type in combination with the different available finishes. Engineered oak is a solid timber top (0.3 mm of solid oak) in conjunction with a multi-layer MDF base. Thanks to our clever construction, our engineered wood tops do not expand and contract to the same extent as solid wood tops. But our engineered top’s really special feature is the fact that it’s topped off with solid oak, making the end result look just like solid wood but for a much better price! We receive weekly questions why we are using engineered oak and not solid oak throughout. To start with, the price is 400% cheaper than a solid oak top. It is better resistant to the South African climate with no risk of cupping, bowing, cracking of the top and it is easy in maintenance. Do we need to say more? We made a Q&A around engineered oak. Care construction Sun damage Engineered wood is sensitive to light. We'd recommend that you avoid leaving anything on the surfaces for the first 6-8 weeks, if they're exposed to sunlight. Add some happy colour to your bedroom or living room with this modern chic Lilo pedestal. This cabinet on a gold base is a winner. We believe that the design of this modern bedside pedestal is a smart, sophisticated design with a striking contrast of materials and colours. The design details set this side table apart. Material Solid Wood Dimensions Width: 650 mm Height: 620 mm Length: 450 mm Solid Wood The cream of the crop in the furniture industry is working with solid wood. At Furniturespot we believe that great design should be available for everyone, and if we only would work with solid wood it would mean our items are only available for the happy few. We would like to make furniture for the ‘happy many’! Therefore, our designers and makers at Furniturespot love to work with engineered wood, also known as veneer. The price is 400% cheaper than a solid oak top. It is better resistant to the South African climate with no risk of cupping, bowing, cracking of the top and it is easy in maintenance. But don’t you worry, we do still work with solid woods such as French oak. But always in combination with veneer. Most of our tabletops have a veneer oak top with a solid oak edge. Designing furniture with best of both worlds in mind. We made a Q&A around solid oak and engineered oak. Care construction Sun damage Solid wood is sensitive to light. This should help you avoid any marks or rings appearing if the furniture lightens in the sun. Cleaning A damp (never soaking wet) cloth will do it. Dry the surfaces thoroughly afterwards. Both wood and engineered wood can be damaged by liquids, so if you spill anything on it, be sure to wipe it dry immediately. If you need to remove any stains, go gently – use mild soap and warm water. Please note: this unit requires assembly. Estimated time to assemble: 10-15 minutes. We also offer an assembly service for R899. Made: This product is proudly handcrafted in South Africa. Note: Actual product colours may slightly vary from colours shown online due to screen variations, image lighting and fabric availability. Please ask a sales representative for colour swatches and fabric samples should you be unsure. Decor items, mattresses and or bedding are not included with our products unless explicitly stated.
